The other day my friend, Anita posted picture of homemade Chu Chong Fun, which totally made me crave for it. And since I was already in Rice Village, only make sense to go to Yum Yum Cha. Owned by Hong Kong chefs, it's as authentic as you're going to get inside the loop.
I came here for Chu Chong Fun, this is the fried style rice noodle. Of course, what makes this special is the plum sauce. Sweet against savory, absolutely perfect marriage.
Here we have Char Siu Bao, which is roasted barbequed pork inside a steam bun. The bun is light and fluffy though, I'm all for that.
Lastly, I got the Shanghai Soup Dumpling. I will say that there weren't much soup in there, and the skin is too thick, as though they defrosted some frozen dumplings, it just doesn't steam thru nicely thru the skin. Aside from the Shanghai (no) soup dumplings, the rest are pretty good. You should come for brunch. Yum Yum Cha really derived from Cantonese, where someone ask if you want some tea. If anything is this like Chinese tapas. Little by little, it does fill you up. The nice thing about them is that if you're no good at reading Chinese, phonetic or otherwise, they do have pictures for you to order from, and they have nice description to boot.
Watch out that during Saturday/Sunday morning, it does get packed. You'll have to put your name down and check back.
